Earl Bunn CONCORD - Mr. Claude Earl Bunn of Valley Brook Ln., passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013 at NorthEast Medical Center. A graveside service will be 2 PM Sunday at Oakwood Cemetery officiated by his son-in-law, Rev. Tony Allen. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery. Earl was born July 21, 1924 in Concord to the late Foster Cuthbertson Bunn and Myrtle Suther Bunn. He was educated in Concord City Schools, graduating from Concord High School and later graduated from Wake Forest University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. Earl was a veteran of the US Army serving during World War II. He worked with Shelby Ohio Mutual Insurance Company as an adjuster director until moving to Norwood, NC where he owned and operated Norwood Insurance and Realty Corporation until retirement in 1974. Earl later travelled extensively with his wife, Nita. Earl was a charter member of Piney Point Golf Club where he served as an officer and devoted member for many years. He was also a member and officer of the Lions Club where he had perfect attendance for many years, and a member and trustee of Norwood First Methodist Church. He also loved fishing. Earl is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nita Jenkins Bunn; daughters, Melissa Bunn Pinkerton and husband Reg of Myrtle Beach, SC, Melanie Bunn Coley and husband Brian, and Erin Bunn Allen and husband Tony, all of Concord; grandchildren, Anna Leigh Irvin and Elizabeth Jane Irvin of Salisbury; brothers, F.C. Bunn, Jr. of Concord, and Jim Bunn of Norwood, NC.; sisters, Hillard B. Ballard and Millicent Bunn, both of Concord. Earl proudly stated to doctors and friends, " I've had a good life."
