Edgar Wayne Patterson Jr. TAYLORSVILLE - Edgar Wayne Patterson Jr., 86 of Taylorsville died Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Valley Nursing Center after an extended illness. He was born March 25, 1925 in Alexander County, son of the late E.W. "Bud" Patterson Sr. and Ethel Millsaps Patterson. He graduated from Hiddenite High School and Evans Carolina Business School. Wayne was a US Army Air Corp World War II Veteran, first serving as a ball turret gunner on a B24, and then with the occupation forces in Fritzlar, Germany, where he managed a commissary for the military personnel. He then spent a career in accounting and management with several companies, including Kendall Company, Regal Textiles and Bank of America. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Lee Roy and David Patterson. Survivors include his wife of sixty six years Betty Sprinkle Patterson of the home; sister in law Carol Patterson and nephew Lee Roy Patterson Jr. and wife Glenda. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Patterson will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Bobby Morrow and Paul Sink will officiate. Burial with follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery, with Military Honors accorded by VFW Post's 10,000 and 5466. The family will receive friends at Adams Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 6 until 7:30 pm. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, 1117 South Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203, or to Hospice of Alexander County, 50 Lucy Echerd Lane, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
