Ellis Baker CHARLOTTE - Ellis Baker, 79, of Charlotte passed away at Mercy Hospital on November 7, 2013. Ellis was born in NY, but lived in Miami and considered that home. He attended Miami High School and received a walk on scholarship to play football for the University of Florida. He was inducted into the Miami High School Hall of Fame in 2002. He moved with his family to Charlotte in 1980. His daughters, Elizabeth Baker of Atlanta and Ruth Baker of Charlotte survive him. His wife of 40 years Joan Baker and his youngest daughter Lori Baker preceded him in death. Ellis had many dear friends. He was an avid football fan, he enjoyed a good cigar and a good joke. He will be missed. His ashes will be laid to rest in Miami where he will be honored in a ceremony attended by his closest friends and family. A special thanks to the Paventi's and the staff and residents at Sharon Village for the kind words and wonderful stories. "Bye Ellis" J.B. Tallent Funeral Service is assisting the family.
