Rev. Dr. George W. Rudisill MATTHEWS - Rev. Dr. George Wesley Rudisill, of Matthews, died Aug. 29, 2013. He was born July 3, 1921, to the late Silas G. and Carrie Rudisill of Lincolnton. He served in the Army during WWII until 1946, including landing on the beach of Normandy on D-day. He graduated from High Point College and Harvard University and received a Ph.D. (Hon) from Pfeiffer College. Rev. Rudisill served the United Methodist Church as a minister, district superintendent, and director of Council of Ministries. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Rudisill; son, Jeffrey (Nancy); daughter, Rebecca Haynes; grandsons, Jacob and Jason Haynes; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Weds., Sept. 4, at 2 p.m. at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church in Charlotte. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service in the sanctuary. The family of Rev. Rudisill would like to thank the staff of ICU at CMC Pineville and Hospice House for their loving care during his brief illness.
