Harley Arnold Coolong BELMONT - Harley Arnold Coolong, age 77, passed away on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 at his home. A native of Gardiner, Maine, he was the son of the late Jerry and Ruth Stitham Coolong. He was a 1955 graduate of Gardiner High School and immediately joined the U.S. Air Force where he worked as a Jet Mechanic. He met and married Velma Holderman Coolong, in Madison, Wis. Harley joined the Air National Guard and served one year before being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 55 years; sons Scott A. Coolong of Mt. Holly, Timothy B. Cooling of Mt. Holly, Michael T. Coolong and wife Pam of Stanley; grandson Noah Coolong. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Thursday at Trinity Church of the Nazarene, Charlotte. The funeral service will be held there at 3 pm, Friday with Pastor Mike Barefield officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Salisbury National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church in Harley's honor.
