Harry Vann Boone MONROE - Harry Vann Boone, 76, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014. He was born in Mecklenburg County, on March 2, 1937, son of the late George and Esther Davis Boone. Harry was a US Army veteran, retired Army Reserve and retired mail carrier with the US Postal Service. He was a graduate of Benton Heights High School and a member of Benton Heights Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in the Gordon Funeral Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Harry is survived by his wife, Carol P. Boone; daughter, Melissa Stroup and husband Paul of Indian Trail; grandsons, Harrison and Andrew Stroup; step-daughters, Rebecca Crisp of Pageland, S.C. and Melissa Thomas of Hartsville, S.C.; two step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.
