Henry Caspers SPARTANBURG - Henry "Spook" Habbe Caspers, Jr., 76, died May 17, 2014, at Regional Hospice Home. Born May 3, 1938, in New Bern, Neb., he was a son of the late Henry Habbe Caspers, Sr. and Oakel Yulkin Caspers. Mr. Caspers retired as a veteran of the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service, serving four tours of duty in Viet Nam. He then worked at Lockheed in aerodynamics contract work helping design engines for the A-10 Warhog, and then he began his NASCAR career, retiring as a truck driver with Phoenix Racing and NASCAR affiliation for over 30 years. He is survived by his former wife and friend, Kim Garland Smith; a son, Kenny Lynn Caspers of New London, N.C.; a step-son, David G. Smith (Kelly) and step-daughter, Heather L. Smith both of Jacksonville, Fla.; and his NASCAR family. He was predeceased by a brother. Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m., May 20, 2014, at Bobo Funeral Chapel officiated by Rev. Don Moore.
