Rev. Jerry C. Cook PINEVILLE - After a long battle with cancer, Rev. Jerry C. Cook, 72, extended his journey into heaven to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 31, 2014. Rev. Cook was born on July 11, 1942 to the late William E. and Florence Newell Cook. He graduated from South Mecklenburg High School after which he attended Wingate University, Belmont University and studied at Vanderbilt University and Southern Seminary. He pastored churches in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Florida for 50 years. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Judith Blackwelder Cook; a son Todd Cook (Diana) of Pineville, NC; sister, Etheline C. Dabbs (Van) of Conway, SC; grandchildren, Heather Cook of Wilmington, NC, Hunter Cook of Myrtle Beach SC, Logan Cook of Pineville, NC and one great-grandchild, Kaleb Crisp of Wilmington, NC and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Cook and a sister, Geraldine C. Wright. The family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at Sisk Memorial Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life Service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the church with burial in Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
