Leo R. Maguire LANCASTER - Mr. Leo R. Maguire, age 87, died Tuesday, October 15, 2013. He was born September 11, 1926 in Lynn, Massachusetts, the son of the late Leo Joseph Maguire and Agnes Jeannette Maloney Maguire and was the husband of Mary Faulkner Maguire. Mr. Maguire retired as vice president and general manager of Lehigh-Lancaster, Inc. He was a graduate of the University of Maine and the University of South Carolina, where he obtained a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Mr. Maguire served as Chairman of the Board of Elliott White Springs Memorial Hospital, and as President of the Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce, the United Way of Lancaster, and both Lancaster Rotary Clubs. He also served as a Director of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Carolina and the South Carolina Development Board. He served as a trustee from 1995 - 2004 and served as chairman from 2002 - 2004. Mr. Maguire previously served on the board for South Carolina National Bank /Wachovia Bank and was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church. Mr. Maguire is survived by his wife, Mary Faulkner Maguire of the home, a son, Michael R. Maguire and his wife Kim of Gastonia, NC, a daughter, Kathleen (Katy) M. Heide of Fort Mill, SC, two sisters, Claire Maguire and Marilyn Maguire Girard, and four grandchildren, Kelly Maguire, Kristen Maguire, Christopher Heide and Adam Heide. Mr. Maguire was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Louise Gardner. The Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Maguire will be 11:00 am Friday, October 18, 2013 at Saint Catherine Catholic Church by Rev. David A. Runnion, Pastor. The Family of Mr. Maguire will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00pm Thursday evening, October 17, 2013 at Burgess Funeral Home with the Vigil service at 5:30PM. The family suggests memorials to Holy Angels, 6600 Wilkinson Boulevard, Belmont, NC 28012 or Saint Catherine Capital Campaign, 720 West Meeting Street, Lancaster, SC 29720.
