Maxine Rudman Twery CHARLOTTE - Maxine Rudman Twery, age 79, of Charlotte, NC died on June 6, 2014, at Aldersgate Retirement Community in Charlotte, NC. Maxine was born on June 22, 1934 at the Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Lou and Ethel Rudman. At age 11, Maxine and her family moved to Joliet, Illinois. Maxine received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois, where she met her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Raymond Joseph Twery. The Twery's moved to Charlotte, NC where they raised four boys while Maxine attended Winthrop College. She received her Master of Science degree in Speech Pathology and worked with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools where she later retired. Upon retiring she volunteered as a guardian ad litem in the school system, and like her work, she enjoyed helping people. Maxine and Raymond moved to Aldersgate Retirement Community where she helped residents in need of speech therapy. Maxine's passions, other than helping those in need, were gardening and cooking. Her quality and quantity of cooking and baking will be remembered always. She was open to people and never met anyone she didn't expect to be a friend. Left to honor and remember her are her husband Raymond Joseph Twery, her brother Perry Rudman of Joliet, Ill, her sons, Michael and wife Cheryl of Damascus, MD, Scott and wife Debbie Theissen of Atlanta, GA, Seth and wife Marrene of Charlotte, NC, Bruce and wife Tina of Finksburg, MD, grandchildren: Hannah, Joshua, Benjamin, Zachary, Sabrina, Alexander, and Michael. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Sunday, June 8th, at 5:30PM, at Aldersgate, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC, 28215. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Aldersgate Resident Assistance Fund, 3800 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, NC 28215. Arrangements in care of Hankins and Whittington.
