Paul Edward Cook MOORESVILLE - Paul Edward Cook, 88, of Mooresville, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at his residence. He was born on March 23, 1926 in Mooresville, to the late Albert C. and Etta Hill Cook. Mr. Cook was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army, where he received the Purple Heart. He was retired from Port City Furniture and Blackwelder Furniture both in Mooresville. As a Mooresville native he was a lifelong member of Mooresville First Baptist Church, where he served in both the Sanctuary and XYZ Choirs. Mr. Cook was a member of the Mooresville Masonic Lodge #496 AF & AM, where he served as Worshipful Master in 1962 and secretary of the lodge for many years. He was also Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star Adah Chapter #258 and was Past President of the Mooresville Lion's Club. Mr. Cook also served as a volunteer fireman for the Mooresville Fire Department and was a charter member of the Mooresville Rescue Squad. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Robin Michael Cook, Stephen Wayne Cook; and granddaughter, Carri Renee Cook. Mr. Cook is survived by his wife of 65 years, Fay Robbins Cook; son, Larry Cook and wife, Kay; grandchildren, Christopher, Megan, Katie, Chase and Madison; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Kylee, Carley, Bryson, Carter and Sofia. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 14, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Jerry Cloninger and Rev. Eddie Hicks officiating. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
