Roy Neil Cobb CHARLOTTE - Roy Neil Cobb, age 95, of Charlotte passed away January 19, 2014 at his residence. A graveside service will be at 11:00AM Wednesday, January 22nd at Forest Lawn West Cemetery with military rites, Pastor Gene Latham officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:30AM Wednesday at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home prior to the service. Mr. Cobb was born March 29, 1918 in Clover, SC son of the late John Edward and Cora Moses Cobb. He was a longtime member of Thrift Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Usher and served as a Delegate to the Southern Baptist Convention. Mr. Cobb served in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Hill. He retired from W. K.A. Industries as a machinist after many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the beach. Surviving are his sisters, Reola Brandon of Rock Hill SC and Margaret Adams of Clover, SC; grandchildren, Laura Lee Helms (Chris) and Neil Roberts all of Charlotte; great-grandson, Chase Helms of Charlotte and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vurnia Cobb, daughter, Peggy Lee Edmunds, sister, Mildred Brandon, brother Howard (Mutt) Cobb, half sister, Merle Bedford and half brother James (Happy) Lewis Cobb.
