Terence Manville Harris CHARLOTTE - Terence Manville Harris (Terry), of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on January 10, 2014, surrounded by his adoring family. We remember him as a man of God, a doting husband and loving father. To all he was a reliable and constant source of hearty laughter, bear hugs, and unconditional love. Terry was born in Ada, Oklahoma, to Samuel Houston Harris and Katherine Manville Harris. He received his Bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!) and his Master's in theology from the Episcopal Seminary at Sewanee, The University of the South. Prior to seminary, Terry was a Captain in the United States Air Force where he flew the F-86D from 1956 to 1959. He married the love of his life, Sallie Elizabeth Lott Harris of New Orleans, on April 24, 1964. Terry served as an ordained priest in the Episcopal Church for more than 50 years. In 1963 he began his service as rector of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Lafayette, LA. In 1969 he moved to Emmanuel Episcopal in Lake Village, AR, followed by Good Shepherd Episcopal in Little Rock, AR, in 1974 where he served for 18 years. He retired from St. John's Episcopal in Homestead, FL, in 2000 after 8 years of service. In 2003, Terry and Sallie moved to Charlotte, NC, where he served as Assistant to the Rector for Senior Care at St. John's. He is survived by his wife, Sallie Lott Harris, and his brother, Samuel Houston Harris of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is also survived by his four children and thirteen grandchildren: Terence Harris (Tim), his wife Jennifer Harris and their children Emily, Drew, and Sarah Harris of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Christopher Harris, his wife Tricia Harris and their children Madeleine, Houston and Caroline Harris of Whitefish Bay, WI; Robin Riebe, her husband Andrew Riebe and their children Andrew, Katherine, John and Grayson of Charlotte; and Cragin Mosteller, her husband James Mosteller and their children Harris, Mahlon and Raines of Tallahassee, FL. Terry's funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at 2:00pm at St. John's Episcopal Church. His burial service will be at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery in Metairie, Louisiana, on Friday, January 17, 2014, at noon.
