Todd Bryson Cook CHARLOTTE - Todd Bryson Cook, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on June 4, 2014. He was born March 30, 1926 in Morganton and was the youngest son of the late Julius Pinckney Cook and Sophronia York Cook. Entrepreneurial from boyhood, Todd acquired a paper route so he could buy a bike, and one of his newspaper customers was the late Senator Samuel Ervin, Jr. After graduating from Morganton High School, he served in the Army during World War II. As a young man, he traveled extensively throughout the US, and lived in NY, NJ, WI and CA before settling back in NC with his young family in the early 1970s. He was a retired Master Barber of 50 years, and owned and operated Yorkmont Hairstyling until his retirement in 1996. He was a charter member of Sardis Baptist Church, which he loved and faithfully served in a variety of ways over the years. Surviving him are his wife of 46 years, Linda Smith Cook of Charlotte, daughter Donna Elaine Cook (Matthew Maciejewski), grandchildren, Langley York Maciejewski and Mason Cook Maciejewski, of Chapel Hill, NC and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother. Todd will always be remembered for his sweet smile, gentle laugh, unassuming nature, wry sense of humor and his kindness to all people. The family wishes to express gratitude to neighbors, Ruth Campbell and Robert Belmont, to Carepoint caregivers, Priscilla McDowell, Quiana Richie and Teresa Threatt, to the Hospice & Palliative Care staff, to Piedmont Adult Living Services Day Care and the CATS Special Transportation staff, all of whom worked to provide the family with care and support during Todd's illness. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Sardis Baptist Church, 5811 Sardis Road, with Rev. Dr. Tim Moore officiating.
