Annie Long Blakely CORNELIUS - Annie Long Blakely, 99, of Cornelius died December 16, 2013 at her home surrounded by family and friends. Annie was one of eight children, born July 24, 1914 to Oscar and Jenny Graham Long of Lincoln County. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years James Ray Blakely. Annie graduated from Rock Springs School and worked for a short time at Burlington Mills in Mooresville and later at Mary Mac's Dress Shop in Cornelius which was owned by her dear friends Rachel Bustle and later Cat Kennerly. Homemaking, however, was her true calling. She loved keeping her home clean, cooking for family and friends, working in her yard and taking care of everyone. This fulfilled her. She was rich in what matters most-faith family and friends. She was a positive role model for all who knew her and we were blessed to have her for 99 years. She is survived by one son Johnny (Simone), two daughters Joanne McGee (Johnny) and Mary Robinette (Silas) all of Cornelius; one sister Mary Abernathy of Denver, NC. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Mike, Tate (Cathy), Jim (Chavone), Sarah (Tommy), all of Cornelius and Sandy (Garth) of Charlotte. She was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren, Chris, Taylor, Zach, Nolan, Anna, Gracie, Grayson and Anna. We want to express our appreciation and love to mama's caregivers, Carolyn, Lori, Judy and Terri. We entrusted mama to their care and they showered her with love and attention beyond our expectations. We also want to thank Hospice and Palliative Care Lake Norman and her sweet nurse Crystal. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 Friday, December 20, 2013 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center following the service. Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion UMC, 19600 Zion St., Cornelius, NC 28031 or Hospice of LKN, 705 Griffith St., Suite 203, Davidson, NC 28036. James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family. www.jamesfuneralhomeLKN.com.
