Collin Pearson Gilbert CHARLOTTE - Collin Pearson Gilbert, age 33, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Novant Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Collin was born September 16, 1980 in Rock Hill, SC to Glen and Janice Gilbert. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Pearson Gilbert, and his grandfathers Luther Herbert Nelson and Willie Daniels. Collin was a graduate of York Technical College and ECPI; he was a systems administrator at Autouplink Tech in Charlotte. Collin loved music, motorcycles, tattoos, Panthers football, cooking ribs on the grill, working out at the Harris YMCA, and he was an avid runner. He was an active member of Myers Park United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Samaritan Class and served as an audio-visual assistant. In addition to his parents, Collin is survived by the two loves of his life, his wife, Ashley and daughter, Georgia; brother, Jason and his wife, Melissa of Rock Hill, SC; and maternal grandmother, Ruth Nelson Daniels of Ridgeway, SC. His best friends, Marty Williams and his wife, Kelly and Doug Ancrum and his wife, Meg of Charlotte; and his cousin, Gene Cox and his wife, Samantha of Lexington, SC. A service to celebrate Collin's life will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Myers Park United Methodist Church, 1501 Queens Rd. The family will receive friends at the church in Jubilee Hall immediately following the service. Child-care will be provided for those who wish. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Collin's friends at the Harris YMCA and all the doctors, nurses and staff at Presbyterian Hospital for their compassion and care.
