Corallie Means Hillman CONCORD - Corallie Means Hillman, 97, died in her sleep on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Morningside of Concord. The only child of Margaret Caldwell Means Litaker and Brandon White Means, she was born and lived her entire life in Concord. She was educated in the Concord City Schools and at the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (now UNCG). She was the granddaughter Margaret Caldwell and William Allen Caldwell and of Corallie Bullock Means and the Honorable William Gaston Means who represented Cabarrus County and the city of Concord as its mayor as well as its representative to the General Assembly and later to the State Senate. Mrs Hillman was married in 1938 to John Knox Hillman. Mr. Hillman died in 1970. In addition to her parents and grandparents, she also was preceded in death by her beloved son Knox in 2010. Corallie Hillman is survived by three of her four children: Mary Margaret Saunders and her husband Wade, Brandon E. Hillman and his fianc Shari Hunt, and William Ross Hillman and his wife Teri, and her daughter-in-law, Frances N. Hillman. She is also survived by ten devoted grandchildren: Mary Kent Weaver, Francey Hillman Brown (Mike), Margaret Means Hillman, J. Knox Hillman III, Wade H. Saunders IV (Sarah), John Knox Saunders, Brandon H. Saunders (Jennifer), Ferris Hillman D'Angelo (Mike), Charly Hillman and Rossi Hillman; and ten great-grandchildren. She is survived by four first cousins, one of whom lives in Concord, Paul Caldwell and wife Alyson and a loving cousin who shares her name, Corallie Hanly Murray of Camden, Maine. There are numerous relatives in California, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Maine who mourn her life and celebrate her life. A Service of Celebration for the life of Corallie Hillman will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 70 Union Street North, on Monday at 2 PM followed by a reception in Davis Hall. A private burial will be held earlier in the day.
