Ellen Liedra Gallant ROCHESTER, NY - Ellen Liedra Gallant, of Rochester, N.Y., entered the presence of God Saturday, April 5, after courageously and gracefully facing a twelve year decline in health. This beautiful, loving person is survived by husband William (Bill) C. Howard and two sons, Charles (Charlie) William Gallant Howard and Thomas Edward Howard, all of Rochester; sisters Carol Denny Gallant and Susan Harriss Gallant Brown (husband James); brother Charles W. Gallant III (wife Linda) ; and mother, Ellen Denny Gallant, all of Charlotte. Ellen was a cherished wife, mother, sister, daughter and aunt, greatly missed by all who knew her. Born Sept. 19, 1953, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Charles W. Gallant, Jr. (deceased), and Ellen Denny Gallant, second of their four children, residing in Charlotte from 1955 through 1983, attending Pinewood Elementary, Smith Junior High, South Mecklenburg High School, and graduating a BS RN from UNCC School of Nursing in 1975. Ellen loved cats, dogs and the outdoors; she enjoyed gardening and delighted in flowers. Ellen loved music, being a talented guitarist and vocalist. She spent her career and life in service to others; her impact on the lives of those who have known her has been profound and lasting. Memorial service is Saturday, April 12, at 11:30 a.m., at the Little Flower Assisted Living Center chapel; 8700 Lawyers Road, in Mint Hill, where her mother is a resident.
