Gladys Brown Helms CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Helms, 94, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Friday, the 19th of July, 2013, at The Robin Johnson Hospice House. She was born Tuesday, the 29th of April, 1919, one of eight children to the late Arthur Brown and Nancy Newell Brown. Mrs. Helms was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Her family was truly blessed with such an amazing woman. The Helms family will greet friends from 12:00 Noon until 1:45 PM, Monday, the 22nd of July, 2013, in the Magnolia Room of Ellington Funeral Service. A service to celebrate her life will follow at 2:00 PM in "The Historic Morehead St. Chapel" at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Bearing the casket of Mrs. Helms will be Curtis, Dillon, Stevie Helms, Frankie and Howard A. Brown and Walter Lipe. Mrs. Helms is survived by her two sons, Melvin Helms and wife, Nancy Helms, of Paw Creek, NC, and Ricky Helms and wife, Tammy Helms, of Vale, NC; one sister, Ovella Lipe of Standfield, NC; four grandchildren, Curtis Helms of Mt. Holly, NC, Josie White and Candy Helms of Paw Creek, NC, and Amber Helms of Vale, NC; eight great-grandchildren and five-and-a-half great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
