I can´t believe 10 years has passed and life goes on and an angel is watching after all those he loves. Hearts do heal, but sadness still arises and memories flood in. Thank God for those precious times.

Angie & Shields, I am so sorry. I've thought for most of my life that Henry and your parents were the most courageous people I've ever known. And like Nancy, I look back on our childhood with love and laughter. Shields, every spring I think about the year you gave up one of our neighbors for Lent and smile. We were all so fortunate to grow up together. My love to you both.

If only we could see the splendour of the land
To which our loved ones are called from you and me
We'd understand
If only we could hear the welcome they receive
From old familiar voices all so dear
We would not grieve
If only we could know the reason why they went
We'd smile and wipe away the tears that flow
And wait content.

I had the pleasure of knowing Henry through his daily visits to Starbucks. His visits were always a highlight of my days and I was honored to consider him a friend. He touched many lives and will be missed more than words can say. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Vicki,Emma,Angie,Shields and the Sloan Family-we share in your loss.Henry was a hell of a good man! He was a kind, thoughtful compassionate gentleman.
I had the pleasure of living across the street from the Sloans as a young man. My mother and dad were crazy about Big Henry and Shields and all the Sloans, including the dogs. Henry helped me during some extremly dark times in my life-I will be grateful for his wisdom and direction as long as I live. I had the pleasure of being in a program with Henry for the last 30 years. Henry helped so many learn to live again.
I was able to spend an hour with Henry at the Rehab Hospital, a few days after his surgery and he called my name when he saw me in the hallway and asked me how I was and asked about Sandy ,my wife and all of my brothers and sisters and then told me about all of you and what was going on in your lives,we laughed about the old days and celebrated our fellowship and all the blessings we have-what a guy! We know that our lives have been made richer because of Henry Sloan and the world is a better place. God bless all of you and your family .God bless you Henry!

With prayers and love

Words can't express how much we'll miss Henry. It was always a joy to run into him at the grocery or the coffee shop...he could brighten the darkest of days with just a few words...always a laugh and often a lesson. Our thoughts are with his family and many friends.

Dear Vicki, Emma, Shields, and Angie: My heart goes out to all of you. I am in great prayer that you will find a peace that will comfort you. I will always remember how nice Henry was when I stayed at your house when traveling. I will always remember my first eye appointment back in first grade. Mrs. Sloan drove Henry and me to the office. I was really scared of him because he was this big strapping fellow and I didn't really know him. But that changed over the years. I will miss him. May God Bless.
