Joshua, you are a true hero to all who suffer from CF. Look what you gave, beyond your life, so that others might live. Breathe easy angel.

Charlotte Observer: "He was the lead author on a recent article in the Journal of Clinical Microbiology in which he was both researcher and study subject...it provided unparalleled access to Stokell's life history and medical records, UNCC said, the study was the most intensive sampling of a single cystic fibrosis patient to date."

Thank you, sir. It would have would have been an honor to know you.

Josh was and still is my best friend. We met when we were 8. He was my #1 supporter in life, and I was his #1 supporter. After he moved to NC, we drifted apart but thankfully the last 10 years of his life we made a point to be close again. I thankfully got to see him one last time in 2013 for a day. Selfless and always inspiring up to the very end. I'll never forget our last text exchange on his birthday. He said he never gave up the idea that we would be living close to one another one day.....

This isn't goodbye. You will always be my brother. Thanks for inspiring the world. Your strength is now in my heart, and in every single life you've touched. Breathe Easy.

I had the pleasure of working with Josh at Sears in Asheville NC about 17 years ago. He was truly a gift and miracle of a friend. And to know he became a Dr. was God's plan. Gone but never forgotten, his legacy will always be remembered through our Sears family. May our prayers be with his family.

I had the pleasure of making Josh's acquaintance while we all worked at Sears in the 90s together. Josh was always a hard worker & indeed complained little & always was smiling. I know that heaven is a little brighter with that smile. Prayers & love for the family.

I had the great pleasure to work with Josh on many levels. He will always be a huge inspiration to me - as a man who endured a lot, complained very little, and who worked tirelessly to learn, improve himself, and help others. The incredibly strong feelings that so many people have for him reflect the impact he has had on all of our lives. We'll miss you, and our thoughts are with all of your family.
