Lloyd Edward Church CHARLOTTE - Lloyd E. Church arrived in Heaven April 3, 2014. He was born in Memphis, Tenn., Aug. 30, 1921, and moved to Charlotte in 1997. He is survived by his two children, Tom (Peggy) Church and Trudy (Richard) Griffin. During WW II, he served as a radio operator in the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Church was active in the Boy Scouts of America for 77 years earning Eagle Scout, Silver Beaver, and Order of the Arrow. His retirement years were spent playing golf, wood carving, and enjoying time with his N.C. grandchildren, Curt Whalen and Sharon Pena, and his beloved great-grandchildren. He and his late wife, Dorothy, loved to travel and spend many happy times with their Calif. granddaughters, Katherine and Elizabeth Church. They were also active members in the Presbyterian Church where he sang in the choir. Join his family in celebrating his life Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Sardis Presbyterian Church. The family will greet friends in the fellowship hall from 10:30am until 11:15 a.m. prior to the memorial service at 11:30 a.m. in the sanctuary. Please make memorial donations to Boy Scouts of America or Samaritan's Purse.
