Lowell Alcorn CONCORD - Lowell Edwin Alcorn, age 62, died very suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 6, 2013. Lowell was born in 1951 in Harrisonburg, VA, to Edith H. Alcorn and the Rev. Edwin M. Alcorn and he grew up in Salisbury, NC. He graduated from Catawba College, Salisbury, with a BA in Economics and he completed his MBA in Finance at the University of Georgia, Athens, GA. He married Susan Boylan Alcorn in September 1983 and they celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary this year, enjoying a trip to Chapel Hill, NC, with their sons. Susan and Lowell met in 1981 while working together in the Corporate Financial Planning Dept. of Texas Instruments, Inc., Dallas, TX. They lived in Richardson, TX, until 1996 when they moved to western New York. The family moved to Concord, NC, in 1999. Lowell was a wonderful, thoughtful, caring, loving husband and father of two very accomplished sons, Edwin "Eddie" R. Alcorn, age 28, and Dennis "Denny" G. Alcorn, age 24. Lowell was a strong supporter of Cannon School in Concord where Eddie and Denny attended school and currently are active members of the Cannon School Alumni Board. He loved all sports, especially golf, cycling, Frisbee, catch and release fishing, baseball, and basketball. He leaves a proud legacy for his family. Lowell was highly respected, admired and loved by his family, colleagues, and many friends. He was a Managing Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Charlotte office, and he had over 30 years of lending and consulting experience. He led a wide range of consulting projects for the industry's leading commercial, single-family mortgage, and auto lenders covering business process improvement, systems integration, financial management, loss mitigation, technology selection and implementation. His clients included many of the top ten mortgage lenders and he had several large-scale projects focusing on technology and operations improvements. Lowell was preceded in death in 1992 by his father, the Rev. Edwin M. Alcorn, an associate conference minister in the United Church of Christ, Salisbury, NC. We are comforted that Lowell will share joyous eternal life with his dear father. Lowell is survived by his mother, Edith H. Alcorn of Salisbury, NC; two brothers, Bayard Alcorn and wife Sally of Raleigh, NC, Gregory Alcorn and wife Melissa of Salisbury, NC; one sister, Janice Koppenhaver and husband David of Boone, NC; and many nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Lowell's life will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, November 16, 2013, at the First United Church of Christ, 207 W. Horah Street, Salisbury, NC 28144. The family will greet friends and colleagues after the service. The family prefers memorials to be sent to the First United Church of Christ or to Cannon School, Office of Advancement, 5801 Poplar Tent Road, Concord, NC 28027, www.cannonschool.org. Summersett Funeral Home, Inc., Salisbury, NC, is serving the family.
