Massengale Lutrick Baker
'Memaw' 'Miss Lucky'
Mrs. Baker, 91, of Charlotte, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, July 13, 2008. She was born on August 30, 1916, in Mesquite, TX, but called Charlotte home for over 70 years. She was a charter member of Garr Memorial Church and a good and faithful servant to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, her entire life.
She was employed by Honey's Restaurant for over 35 years where she was affectionately known by her customers as 'Miss Lucky'. She finished her salaried career at Millpower Supply Co. After retiring, she began her volunteer career by being very involved with jail ministries where 'Mother Margie' shared the gospel with inmates by singing and playing her guitar. She was active for many years in Jolly 60's and various hot lunch programs, working and entertaining at both.
She was lovingly known to her grandchildren and many others as 'Memaw'. She never tired of working for the Lord and giving of her time and talents. As a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she taught us right from wrong and the value of having God in our lives. She truly blessed every life she touched.
Mrs. Baker is survived by two sons, Donald Lutrick (wife Eva), Charles Lutrick (wife Margaret); one daughter, Evelyn Smith (husband Bob); four granddaughters, Gwen Conder, Angie Pertiller (husband Archie), Kim Hartley (husband Mike), Julie Belk (husband Kevin); and three great-granddaughters, Lauren, Taylor and Maggie.
