Mary Jane Kirkendol CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Kirkendol, 93, of Charlotte, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at Levine and Dickson Hospice House at Southminster. Born Jan. 15, 1921, at the family homestead in Oxford, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Walter Dallas Wardwell and Edna Ogden Wardwell. Mary Jane graduated from Miami (Ohio) University and received her MFA degree from the University of Michigan. She had a life-long love of music which led to many wonderful adventures. She was a professional violinist and a long time member of the Charlotte Symphony. She also taught violin to many students of all ages and had a particular love of introducing very young students to the violin using the Suzuki method. She was a member of the DAR and Providence United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sister and a son Rob Kirkendol. She is survived by her son Dallas Kirkendol and his wife Susan, three grandchildren Laine Lisowski (Adam), Alexandra Kirkendol and Ryan Sevek (Katy) and three great-grandchildren August Lisowski, Mary Lisowski and Peter Sevek. Family will receive friends on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, from 3 pm - 5 pm at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte. Internment will take place at a later date in Oxford, Ohio.
