Mary Carcione Megas MATTHEWS - Mary Carcione Megas of Plantation Estates in Matthews, NC, formerly of Bethlehem, PA and Hamburg, NY died peacefully on September 21, 2013. Mary was born on September 14, 1921. She was the devoted wife of Theodore G. Megas (deceased) and is survived by her five children, Toni Nozar and husband, James, of Charlotte, NC; Georgene Bramley and husband, David of Wilmington, NC; Theodore G. Megas, Jr. of Portland, OR; George Megas and wife Nancy of McLean, VA; Andrew Megas and wife, Laura of Arlington, VA; niece, Regina Feltham and husband, Larry of Binghamton, NY, 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and her beloved dog, Gidget. Mary graduated from Liberty High School in Bethlehem, PA. She went on to take courses at Bethlehem Business School and was employed by the Navy Department as an administrative assistant. Mary will be fondly remembered for her love of dogs, her proud Italian heritage, her faith, kindness to others, and her strong work ethic. Mary loved her family and enjoyed being a homemaker, special celebrations and family reunions, most recently her 92 birthday party. The family would like to thank the staff at Plantation Estates Willowbrook Court and Mary's caregivers from Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, especially Camille Timberlake, for their kindness, compassion and loving care. A memorial service honoring Mary's life will be held in the Auditorium of Plantation Estates 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013 with Rev. Larry Watts officiating. A private committal will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church Columbarium.
