Timothy Lipka Obituary

Timothy Laurence Lipka "Tim" MATTHEWS - Timothy (Tim) Laurence Lipka was born in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina on October 24, 1986. He passed away suddenly on July 1, 2012 from a heart attack in Washington, D.C. where he resided. Tim was a 2005 graduate of Providence High School. After High School he excelled at Central Piedmont Community College earning an Associate's Degree then a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from N.C. State in 2010. He was currently in the Master's of Public Administration program at the University of Southern California. Tim was employed at Caesar Chavez Preparatory Charter School in Washington, D.C. as an Administrator. One of Tim's passions was politics. He worked diligently on political issues and campaigns, both local, state, and nationally. His commitment and dedication garnered praises and admiration from all that worked with him. Tim loved Washington, D.C. The museums surrounding the mall fueled a life long love for art and history. He was a big fan of Washington National's Baseball, loved classical music and, in High School, was an All-State French Horn player. Tim enjoyed cooking, and often making large Sunday dinners for his roommates. Tim never met a dog that didn't become his best friend. Tim is survived by his maternal grandparents Laurence and Irma Jean Campbell of the Isle of Palms, South Carolina, his parents David and Janice Lipka of Matthews, NC, and his younger brother Eric Lipka of Matthews, NC. Preceding him are his paternal grandparents Samuel and Jerry Lipka of Annapolis, Maryland. A memorial service to celebrate Tim's life will be held on Saturday, July 7th, 2012 at Providence Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. following with a reception in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers or cards, the family asks that you send donations to the Providence High School Band Booster Club, 1800 Pineville-Matthews Road, Charlotte, NC 28270, or the Alz-heimer's Association at www.alz.org.

Tim's family and friends: I am so sorry for this loss. I met Tim in a professional setting where his kindness, generosity and spirit were a bright light during tough times. He was a trusted and admired friend while here and is a bright star in God's crown now. Rock on, Tim.

In the year, almost to the day, that I lived with Tim, he never failed to brighten the house with his sweet charm, always ready quips, and daily stories. He is sorely missed and I wish your family all the best as you find your way through this loss.

I just learned that the wonderful Tim Lipka has left us far too soon. He was a friend who only came into my life at the beginning of 2012 when I came to the US-China Commission where he formerly worked, and I am so disappointed that I will not get to laugh with him longer. He was charming, fun, whip smart and refreshingly genuine. I liked him so very much and was so glad to have made such a wonderful new friend. My heart goes out to the Lipka family. You raised such a wonderful young man and all of us who knew him were lucky and better for it. Tim positively touched everyone he met and brought so much zeal and competence to everything he did.

Dear Cousins David, Janice, and Eric,
Words cannot express how profoundly sorry Steven & I are about Timothy. Our hearts are breaking with you. Eric,

Not everyone is given brotherhood, you cant earn it,, but when you receive this gift, it makes your life much more special.

Eric, when having you first child, Tim will still be 25. When you are in your 50s having your first grandchild, Tim sill still be 25. When you are in your 80s figuring out how you want to “go out in style”, Tim will still be 25. The point is……..TIM WILL BE!!!

Brothers Live Forever, Love Lives Forever, Tim Lives Forever.

PEACE

Celebrating a life well lived. We will cherish the memories forever.

I knew Tim in high school, we did Marching band together, I remember him as being very smart, and kind. Always knew a lot about politics and always wanted to be involved. My heart goes out to his family and friends that now have to be without him. Blessed Be.

Although my view was from a distance, I enjoyed watching Tim and his brother grow up at PPC. Because Tim's life was so meaningful, the lost seems especially hard. To his family I offer my heartfelt condolences. and the promise from a father who had a similar lost last summer, that with patience and love, peace will come. May your family feel the love and support from everyone who's heart was touched by the privilege of knowing Tim.

I met Tim through the marching band at Providence High School. He was always very opinionated, especially about politics, but he was respectful of others and very kind. I'm glad to have known him, I just wish the end hadn't come so soon...

In the short 8 months I lived with Tim in DC, we grew closer from day 1. I loved his daily stories, southern family dinners, and admired his devotion to school, work, and DC politics. He was just getting started, it was too soon.

My wife and I had the privilege of getting to know Tim through Youth Group at PPC. To say it was a pleasure to know and work with him is an understatement. It did not take long to realize Tim was in a league of his own. When you were in his company, it was hard not to be impressed with his intellegence and the passion he showed towards such a wide variety of interests. Tim will be remembered in our hearts as a truly special person. To his parents and brother, our prayers will be with you. -Dana and Emily

I competed alongside Tim in French Horn competitions in NC throughout middle and high school. He was such a cheerful and great person to be near. I have some great memories of rehearsals with Tim laughing and joking around that I'll keep with me my whole life. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

Tim, you were a great friend to me, I still can't believe you are gone. My thoughts are with your family and friends. Miss you already buddy!
