William Sloan Carson, Jr. 'Bill" INDIAN TRAIL - William Sloan Carson, Jr. (Bill) passed away January 21, 2014. A brief graveside memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, January 25 at Sharon Memorial Gardens in the area designated as the "Garden of the Good Shepherd". Bill was born on June 9, 1920 in Charlotte and graduated from Central High School in 1938. In 1942 he was drafted into the US Army and served valiantly during World War II in the "Battle of the Bulge" where he was awarded a "Purple Heart". Bill was active until the end and will certainly be missed by his breakfast and dinner friends. Bill is preceded in death by his wife Grace Y. Carson. His memory will be cherished by daughter Carolyn A. Sinclair, son William S. Carson III and Gail Craig, son John M. and Beverly Carson, seven grandchildren and eight great -grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice House of Union County. Arrangements are in care of Heritage Funeral Home, Indian Trail Chapel.
