George H. Stevens CHARLOTTE - Mr. Stevens, 54, died Feb. 12, 2014 in Lake Barrington, Ill. He was born in Syracuse N.Y., the son of Marilyn and Donald Stevens. He was a communicant at St. Lucy's Catholic Church. He graduated from Bishop Ludden High School and received his BS in Cardiopulmonary Care and Allied Health Management from the College of Health Related Sciences at SUNY-Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, N.Y. and an MS in Instructional Design at Syracuse University. George taught at the College of Health Related Sciences, and then pursued a career in corporate training. He was the author of many publications including two books. George was active in several professional organizations, including the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) and worked with friends to establish the Chesapeake Chapter of the society in Baltimore, Md. He and his family moved to Charlotte in 1997 and, except for a brief stint in Indianapolis, have been in Charlotte ever since. George's intellect, drive and passion were evident in everything he did, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. George is survived by his wife, Emily; his children, Joshua Stevens, Laura Stevens and Wesley Stevens; his brothers, Donald Stevens, Richard Stevens and Sean Stevens of Syracuse, N.Y.; his sisters, Paulette Kelly, Susan Stevens and Melinda Stevens; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald W. Stevens and his mother Marilyn M. LaCombe Stevens, his brother Todd Stevens, and his sister Gail Pascarella. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at St Peter's Catholic Church, St Peter's Catholic Church, 507 South Tryon St., Charlotte, NC 28202 on Feb. 28, 2014, at 2:00 pm.
