James Oliver Turner, Jr. "Jimmy" CHARLOTTE - James "Jimmy" Oliver Turner, Jr., 66, of Charlotte, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, in Charlotte. He was born Nov. 2, 1947, in Salisbury, the son of Eloise Truesdel Turner and the late James O. Turner. James graduated from Myers Park High School and Central Piedmont Community College. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served on the aircraft carrier, USS America, on the coast of Vietnam from 1967-1972. He received the National Defense Service medal, the Vietnam Service medal with the Bronze Star, and the Vietnam Campaign medal. James worked at Hickory radio station WXRC 95.7, where he was the National Sales Manager. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Norma Eacho Turner; stepsons, Jeff Eacho (Caroline) and Jim Eacho (Susan); sisters, Melody Jones (Doug) and Sherry Paschall (David); and his collie, Michelle. A private service will be held at Salisbury National Cemetery with military honors by the Lyerly Volunteer Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the , 1901 Brunswick Ave., Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207. Lyerly Funeral Home is serving the Turner family.
