Arnold Fazia "Harry" CHARLOTTE - Arnold Fazia, 88, passed away peacefully at home April 11, 2014 after a long period of declining health. He was born Feb. 19, 1926, in New York City to Nicholas and Pierena Fazia, immigrants from Italy. He attended Bronx High School of Math and Science and was a graduate of Yale University, Class of 1946 with a B.S. degree in Engineering. He obtained a Masters degree in Chemical Engineering at Columbia University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Arnold started his career at Dupont as a Chemical Engineer until he transitioned to Celanese Corporation in Charlotte. There he worked as a Manager in the Synthetic Fibers Division. In his spare time, he enjoyed duplicate bridge, raising prized camillas, ballroom dancing and serving as a stock market advisor. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean A. Fazia on Sept. 26, 2013, and is survived by three sons, Stephen P. Fazia and F. Randall Fazia, of Charlotte and Dr. R. Brian Fazia and wife, Betsy of Salisbury. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Grace and Wesley Fazia of Salisbury, Amanda McMillan and her husband Corey, of Greensboro, NC; and one great-granddaughter, Katherine McMillan, and two sisters, Alba Amoia, of Rome, Italy and Norma Elser and her husband, John of Westchester, N.Y. A Prayer Service will be held at Noon Wednesday, April 16, 2014, in the Chapel of St. Gabriel Catholic Church with Father Frank O'Rourke officiating. Committal will follow in the church columbarium. The family will greet friends from 11:00-12 prior to the service in the narthex of the church.
