George H. Appicelli CHARLOTTE - George Henry Appicelli, 84, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on April 17, 2014, at home. He was the son of the late Leonard and Mary Grace Appicelli of Duluth, Minn., on Dec. 15, 1929. In addition to his parents, George was also preceded in death by sixteen brothers and sisters. George proudly served in the U.S. Navy for five years, was the owner of a Dodge dealership, and also a Realtor. He was an avid golfer with Charlotte Seniors Golf, and worked for The Divide golf course in Mint Hill. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Vera; daughter Susan Nido (Michael) of Charlotte; granddaughters Christina Moore (Mark), Andrea Nido, Natalie Nido; and by one great-grandson, William Moore. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, Charlotte beginning at 11 a.m. A visitation will be held one hour prior at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.
