Edwin E. Ross "Ed" CHARLOTTE - Ed left us for his heavenly home on April 19, 2014, after fighting a brave battle against cancer. He was born Sept. 30, 1947 in Brookville, Pa. to Edwin E. and Wanda V. Ross who both predecease him. Later, his family moved to New York State, where he finished high school in East Aurora, N.Y. After getting married, he lived in Kenmore, N.Y. where both of his children were born. He moved with his family to Charlotte in 1987. He is survived by his wife Gail, two daughters, Emily Powell and Rachael (Ryan ) Stewart. He was the proud and very loving grandpa to Abby and Jack Powell. Awaiting the birth of his third grandchild kept him fighting to the end, and Graham Stewart was born April 18. Ed left us after Graham's safe arrival. He also leaves behind his sister Wandann (Larry) Zeller, nephew Kahle Schettler, niece Kyna (Steve) Barr, one great-nephew and two great -nieces. Ed spent his career in the field of credit management. He was a former member of Matthews United Methodist Church where he was an usher and a member of the Shepard Class. Ed served honorably in the Army Reserves. The family is grateful to Dr. Daniel Carrizosa and his nurse Kristen Davis at LCI for their compassionate and competent care. We also thank the staff at Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster for helping make him feel comfortable and safe during his final days. A memorial service for Ed will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday May 3, 2014 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 8300 Providence Road, Charlotte.
