Roxie Pauline Taylor Funderburk CHARLOTTE - Pauline Funderburk, 108, born in Hiawassee, Georgia daughter of the late Rosa Jane Nicholson and Jeremiah Taylor entered into rest Tuesday, May 20, 2014. In addition to her parents Pauline was preceded in death by her daughter Joyce Ann Murphy and her loving husband of 61 years Lemuel. She was born in a log cabin on Fodder Creek and never forgot her Hiawassee, Georgia heritage. She graduated from Hiawassee High School. She earned a teaching certificate and taught school at Pine Grove School in Hiawassee. Her life in Charlotte consisted of being a woman of faith who loved the Lord and was a charter member of Midwood Baptist. She was a lifelong democrat and loved flowers and loved to garden. She also loved to cook and was known for her yeast rolls. Pauline, known for her vibrancy, loved to laugh and was full of joy. She was very much a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who loved her family dearly and will be missed by all. She is survived by a daughter Betty Jane King; grandchildren Paulette Johnston (Frank), Pamela Sawyer (Karl), Scott King (Valerie), Jeff Murphy (Lisa), Sandra Holmes (Mike), Greg Murphy (Renee), Steve King (Laura); great-grandchildren Paige, Rusty, Josh, Jacob, Taylor, Amanda, Ashley, Patric, Alan, Will, Paula, Justin and Tyler; one great-great-granddaughter Olivia. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM followed by a celebration of life at 12:30 officiated by Pastor Garry Baldwin on Friday, May 23, 2014, at Midwood Baptist Church, 2029 Mecklenburg Ave., Charlotte, NC 28205. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. Her pallbearers will be her great-grandsons. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Midwood Baptist Church.
