Lynn Norman Johnson FORT MILL - Mr. Lynn Norman Johnson, 72, of Indian Land, SC, died after a prolonged battle with cancer on Thursday, June 5th, 2014. Born in 1941, Mr. Johnson was a son of the late Ralph & Marion Johnson and Irvin & Olive Young. He was a graduate of Southern Illinois University with a BS in Industrial Engineering. Mr. Johnson was a retired US Naval Officer, spending over 20 years on various submarines and repair vessels in service to his country. After the Navy he worked for Norandex Building Products in Bradenton, FL. He enjoyed being around the water spending time fishing, boating and sailing with family and friends. He spent leisure time golfing, target shooting, and flying his many RC model airplanes as part of a local club. He was a collector of unique kaleidoscopes and all things depicting lighthouses. Earlier in his life, he and his father shared an enthusiasm for restoring and collecting cars. Affectionately known as "Grandpa Johnson" or just plain "Johnson" to his many grandchildren he enjoyed watching their games, meets, recitals, plays, or shows and was quick to share with them his many passions. Surviving are his wife, Marilyn G. Johnson; his sons, Gregory R. Johnson, Eric J. Johnson, Scott A. Johnson, Timothy D. Brophy, Patrick M. Brophy, and Shaun A. Brophy; his brothers, David R. Johnson and Roy D. Johnson; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the by calling 1-800- 227-2345. Condolences may be made at
