Nancy Kathryn Duncan CHARLOTTE - Nancy Kathryn Duncan, age 81, formerly of Charlotte, NC, died Monday, June 16 at Fairhaven Home, Bostic, NC. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Beam and Annie Laura Duncan. She graduated from Queens College, Charlotte, in 1954 with a major in music and received a master's degree in music education from the University of Indiana, Bloomington, Indiana in 1961. For 32 years she taught music in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Public School System specializing in string instruments. During that time she also played violin with the Charlotte Symphony and was an accomplished pianist. She held a Private Pilot's License with several hundred hours of flying time, and she was a member of the Ninety Nines an organization for women pilots. She is survived by two brothers, Charles Duncan, Jr. of Crossville, TN, and John Duncan of Charlotte; three sisters, Judy York of Ellenboro, NC, Sandra Biggerstaff of Concord, NC, and Susan Isenhour of Purlear, NC; six nephews and five nieces. A memorial service will be held 11 o'clock a.m. June 28, 2014, at Selwyn Avenue Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, NC. Interment will follow in Eternal Hills Memorial Park (formerly Sunset Memorial Park) at 3 o'clock p.m., Spindale, NC.
