Donald W. Coleman MOORESVILLE - Donald W. Coleman, 80, of Mooresville, N.C. passed away Sunday June 22, 2014, at Lake Norman Regional Hospital. He was born on July 7, 1933 in Cherokee County, NC to the late Robert Lee and Nell Bates Coleman. He attended Mooresville Senior High School and served briefly in the US Army. In the 1970s and 1980s, Donald became a regular participant on the CB radio scene, where he went by the handle "Port City Duck". Prior to his retirement, he worked as a traffic surveyor with the North Carolina Department of Transportation. He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Donna Credle and husband Curtis of Cocoa, FL; son, Michael Coleman and wife June of Cocoa, FL; sister, Jacqueline Byrd and husband Paul of Mooresville; niece, Teresa Byrd Shirley and husband Keith of Davidson; and great-nephew, Daniel Shirley of Charlotte. The family would like to thank the staff of Genesis Mooresville Center, Lake Norman Regional Hospital and Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County for the loving care they've provided. In addition, the family would like to thank all who have provided comfort to us during this most difficult time. The love you've shown us through your prayers, calls and other acts of kindness has helped sustain us, and for that we are eternally grateful. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at 11:00 am in the chapel of James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Dr., Huntersville, NC.
