Salvatore Maiolo "Sal" CHARLOTTE - Salvatore "Sal" Maiolo entered into eternal life on July 14, 2014 surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness. Born August 7, 1931 in Paterson, NJ, he was the son of the late Dominick and Maria Maiolo. Sal was well loved and will be fondly remembered by everyone who had the pleasure to know him; his generosity, loyalty, and quirky sense of humor. He loved life and lived it to the fullest; volunteering when he could, cooking, traveling, and especially spending time with his family. After serving in the U.S. Army, he began a long, prosperous business career in the dyestuff industry, spanning over 50 years. Sal was also a longtime member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Sal is survived by his beautiful, loving wife Mae, of 61 wonderful years; son, Steven and wife, Lorrie of Fort Lawn, SC; daughter, Carol of Wilmington, NC; four grandchildren, Daniel, Niki, Tony, and Amy; and great-grandson, Riley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, greats and great-greats. A private service will be held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.tallentfuneralservice.com.
