Richard Tryon "Rick" GASTONIA - Richard Stephen "Rick" Tryon passed away peacefully August 1, 2014, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Fayetteville, NC, on October 26, 1950, to James A. Tryon and Lillian M. Tryon and grew up in a military family and lived in numerous places including NC, GA, Germany and Okinawa, Japan. Rick received his education at Fayetteville Technical Institute, Randolph Community College and UNCC. Rick was a beloved son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend to those who knew him. He was artistic, creative and had a quirky but gentle sense of humor. He loved photography, drawing, music and old movies. His laid back approach to life will be missed by those who loved him. Rick is survived by his mother, Lillian M. Tryon, of Charlotte; brother, Wayne A. Tryon and wife, Lynn, of Glastonbury, CT; sister, Sheila Tryon Newcomer and husband, Mike, of Charlotte; best friend, Miriam Goforth, of Mt. Holly, NC; nephews, Aidan Newcomer, of Charlotte, Christian Tryon and wife, Rhonda, of Cambridge, MA; niece, Heather Tryon Winship and husband, Matt, of Suffield, CT; great-nieces, Lily and Katie Winship and Violet Tryon.
