Betty C. Koob CHARLOTTE - Betty Conner Koob, 83, passed away on August 19, 2014. Betty was born in Indiana to Robert and Anne (McNeely) Conner. She graduated from Aurora High School, Aurora, Indiana in 1948 and married Henry Koob one year later. During the early years of their marriage Betty devoted her days to caring for the couple's four children and the family's home. As the nest became empty, she started a new career when she began working for First Union National Bank (Wells Fargo). Starting in local branches she worked her way into the corporate offices of the bank. Betty is survived by one son, Stephen (Carol) Koob and two daughters, Karen (Pat) O'Connor and Cheryl Koob, five grandchildren - Stephen, Jr. (Rachel) Koob, Stephanie (Kevin) Flink-ingshelt, Crystal (Jeff) Schierkolk, Tom O'Connor, and Anna O'Connor; six great-grandchildren; and special niece, Alison Kyle-Varilone. She is preceded in death by her husband; son, Brian Koob; and grandson, Kevin Koob. A period of visitation will be held on Saturday August 23, 2014 from 10:00-11:00 am with a funeral service at 11 am at the McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Rd., Charlotte. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. The family would like to thank Morningview of Irving Park, Greensboro, NC for taking care of their mother the last years of her life. Donations are welcomed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, or the .
