Air Force Technical Sgt.
Phillip Myers
Sgt. Myers, age 30, of Hopewell, VA, formerly of Huntersville, NC gave his life in Afghanistan in defense of his nation, on Saturday, April 4, 2009. A 1996 graduate of Hopewell High School, he joined the US Air Force in 1999, received many honors, and was awarded the Bronze Star twice in his career.
Mr. Myers is survived by his loving wife, Aimee Myers, daughter, Dakotah Myers, and son, Kaiden Myers of Lakenheath Air Force Base, England; mother, Treasa Hamilton and husband Jeff Hamilton of Polkton, NC; father, Eddie Myers of Prince George, VA; brother, Sean Myers of Hopewell, VA; maternal grandparents, Bruce and Rose Waycaster of Hopewell, VA, and fraternal grandparents, William and Dessie Myers of Bland, VA; step-grandmother, Rosa Lee Hamilton of Polkton, NC; aunt, Shirley Semlali of Prince George, VA; uncles, Bruce Waycaster of Charlotte, NC, James Waycaster of Prince George, VA, Keith Myers and wife Nicky of Bland, VA, Lavoy Myers and wife Judy of Bumpass, VA; several nieces and nephews; and father-in-law, Mark Tyszka, wife Jean and daughters, Nichole and Becca of Georgia and son Brian of Richmond. He will be greatly missed.
A funeral service with full military honors will take place in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA on Monday, April 27, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. Family and friends may attend.
