Walter John Mason MOORESVILLE - Walter John Mason, 91, of Mooresville, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. He was born on August 11, 1920 to the late Walter J. and Ellen Obrey Mason in Hawick, Scotland. Mr. Mason served in England's Royal Air Force during World War II in India and Africa. He relocated his family to New York in 1958. In addition to his love for travel, he also enjoyed boating and spending time at the lake. He was also a Mason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey. Mr. Mason is survived by his wife, Ellen; daughter, Christine Preston and husband, Larry; grandchildren, David (Beth), Peggy and Kristen; great-grandchildren, Seth, Liam, Conor, Caley, Claire and Trevor. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the staff of the Critical Care Unit at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, Hospice of Catawba Valley and the Mooresville Fire and Rescue. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11:00 am at Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, is serving the Mason family.
