Gilbert Carter Bell FORT MILL - Mr. Gilbert Carter Bell, 87, of Fort Mill, S.C., died Monday, December 31, 2012, at home. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m., Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Wolfe Funeral Home Chapel, with Jim Firth officiating. The family will hold a reception following the service at the funeral home until 9 p.m. Born in Ware, Mass., Mr. Bell was the son of the late Gilbert Bell and Nancy Estelle Hilton. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. during World War II, where he was stationed in the Tinian Islands in the South Pacific. Mr. Bell retired from Celanese Corp. in 1982. He was a founding member of Providence Day School in Charlotte. Mr. Bell enjoyed woodworking and was a master craftsman. Surviving are his children, Tracy Hyland and Scott Bell, both of Fort Mill; his sister, Jean Firth of Apollo Beach, Fla.; and his grandchildren, Christina Brant of Rock Hill and Natalie Hyland of Fort Mill, S.C.
