George Harris Mitchell CHARLOTTE - George Harris Mitchell passed away Feb. 4 in Gulfport, Miss. George was a native of Charlotte. George was born in 1941 in Charlotte to his parents, Jake Harris Mitchell and Marie Labbe Mitchell. George attended Harding and Catholic High School. He was a proud Air force retiree. He served in Vietnam and several years with the embassy in Bangkok & Burma. George was awarded both the Bronze Star & Meritorious medal. He led a very interesting life and was loved by family & friends. George is survived by his son, George H. Mitchell Jr and his wife Jamie, his daughter, Amy Mitchell, grandson, Bradley Mitchell, all of Ft. Walton Beach, Fl. George is also survived by a sister, Georgia Leeka, and two brothers, John Mitchell & Ted Mitchell, all of Charlotte. George last lived at the Armed Forces Retirement Center in Gulfport, Miss. His ashes will be laid to rest in the Ft. Walton Beach area.
