Roger Dennis Plyler HUNTERSVILLE - Roger Dennis Plyler, a resident of Vero Beach, Florida, formerly from Huntersville, North Carolina, passed away on August 20, 2013, at the home of his mother Sarah Plyler. He was born at Kimbrough Army Hospital, Fort George Meade in Anne Arundel County Maryland on January 20, 1962. He is survived by his mother Sarah Walton Plyler of Vero Beach, twin brother Michael Gene Plyler of Sebastian Florida, sister Emma Lou Guyette of Vero Beach, and brother James Paul Plyler of Wake Forest, North Carolina. Roger attended Parkwood High School near the family home in the Roughedge community outside Monroe, North Carolina. After High School he worked several years for Winn Dixie Food Stores. He left Winn Dixie in the late 1980s as a butcher and after completing course work and training Roger started a career in real-estate sales in Mecklenburg County North Carolina and York County South Carolina. In addition to being the family's cherished meat carver at all gatherings and holidays Roger was a licensed sales agent and real-estate broker for over 16 years. Roger enjoyed exploring nature and was always up for an athletic challenge. He was a frequent and skilled boatman and water skier for many years on Lake Norman in North Carolina. He also enjoyed scuba diving and snorkeling off the coast of Florida. He was predeceased in death by his father Rance Paul Plyler of Vero Beach and formerly of Monroe, North Carolina. Roger will be missed and always loved by all his friends and family. A family and friend's celebration and memorial service for Roger, led by Chaplin Mindy Serafin, was held at the Heron Cay Community Center, Vero Beach, Florida Saturday, August 24, 2013.
