John T. Manning "Jack" CHARLOTTE - John "Jack" T. Manning, age 89, died on November 23, 2013. Survivors include his wife Evelyn (Tyll) of 67 years and their four children Jeannette (Rodney) Debs (FL), John W. (Donna) Manning (NY), Paul (Carmen) Manning (NJ), Michael (Sharon) Manning (Charlotte); eight grandchildren (including Christine, Kelsey and Michaela Manning from Charlotte) and one great-granddaughter. After serving with the Navy in World War II he worked as a patrolman and motorcycle officer for the City of Troy, NY police department, an investigator for the New York State Beverage Control Department, Chief Clerk of the Rensselaer County Family Court and Clerk of the Rensselaer County Board of Supervisors. He retired (with 45 vested years in the NYS retirement system) in 1985 as the Director of Administrative Services for the Rensselaer County Department of Social Services. John enjoyed his retirement at Babcock Lake, NY and Vero Beach, FL. He moved to North Carolina to be closer to family. The family would like to thank the excellent care given by the Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region team and would like to suggest donations be given at Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
