Mary Joyce Bond CHARLOTTE - Bond, Mary Joyce, 79, departed this life on December 10, 2013 at her home in Charlotte, North Carolina. Joyce was born in Gainesville, GA but lived much of her life in Columbus, GA until moving to the Charlotte, NC area with family in 2001. She is survived by her son, Edward Singleton and daughter-in-law, Rita of Ellerslie, Georgia, and son-in-law Roy Lewis of Indian Trail, North Carolina. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Robbie Lewis, her brother William "Bill" Anderson, and her parents, William and Jill Anderson. "Mama Joyce's" pride and joy were her grandchildren who are: Jeremy Singleton and Amber Smith both of Columbus, GA, and Heather Karriker of Matthews, NC. She was also incredibly proud of her nine great- grandchildren. Joyce retired from Dillard's Inc. after more than 30 years in retail customer service, and enjoyed many of her retirement years as a member and devoted volunteer at the Levine Senior Center in Matthews, NC. She treasured the friendships she developed while working in the senior center library and appreciated how those relationships created such a fulfilling later life for her. A celebration of Joyce's life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2013 at the Heritage Weddington Chapel, 3700 Forest Lawn Dr., Matthews, NC, 28104. The family will receive friends to be followed by the memorial service at 3:30 p.m., and respectfully request that donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Levine Senior Center, 1050 Devore Ln., Matthews, NC, 28105 in memory of Joyce.
