Esther Braswell Grady MONROE - Esther Braswell Grady, 77, went to her heavenly home on January 8, 2014, after a short illness. Esther was born in Anson County on November 20, 1936 to the late Robert H. and Susie W. Braswell. She was a graduate of Polkton High School and lived up North for many years. She returned to her home state about 16 years ago after the death of her husband, Albert "Shorty" Grady. She was also preceded in death by her loving companion, Robert L. Benfield. She was a joyful, happy member of Love Baptist Church, Monroe, NC. She loved assisting in their ministry of the Sunshine Club and was employed by the City of Monroe as the Warden for Lake Twitty. Esther is survived by her brothers, Robert Keith Braswell and wife, Helen, of Charlotte, NC, Lloyd Vann Braswell, of Waxhaw, NC, sisters, Emma B. Deese, of Matthews, NC, and Linda B. Warner, of Indian Trail, NC and her fianc , Norris Wright, of Concord, NC. She is also survived by eight nieces, Pansy, Debra, Nancy, Cathy, Carol, Dorothy, Daphney, and Tammy and two nephews, Bruce and Robert. She was preceded in death by two nephews, Terry and David and by one great-nephew, Seth. Esther is also survived by numerous relatives and friends especially Mrs. Pat Hemphill, of Charlotte and her dear friends, Mr. and Mrs. Chad McLemore and daughters, of Monroe, NC; and her Maltipoo baby, "Missy Lynn". The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 3:00-5:00 PM at J.B. Tallent Funeral Service, 1937 Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte. A service in celebration of her life will be held at 11:00AM Monday, January 13 in the Chapel of J.B. Tallent Funeral Service with The Reverend Don Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family would like to thank all of the staff at CMC-Union for the care provided to Esther.
