Edmund Louis Kolwicz MINT HILL - Edmund Louis Kolwicz, age 92, of Mint Hill, passed away at his home on Feb. 19, 2014, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Riverside, New Jersey to Romauld and Alexandra Kolwicz on Nov. 16, 1921. Ed graduated from St. Casimir's Elementary School and Riverside High School. He played football for the Riverside Spartans and Basketball for St. Casimir's CYO and Coached CYO. Ed served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. After service he attended a two year business school. He then went to work at Fort Dix, N.J. in the Payroll Division. He then went on the U.S. Postal Service in Riverside, N.J. until his retirement in 1983. He also worked part-time at the A&P in Willingboro, N.J. In 2006, he and Irma moved to Mint Hill and became parishoners at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. They joined the 50 plus club at SJN and the OWL's Club at St. Gabriel's. He belonged to the VFW and attended Blessed Assurance Adult Day Care. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and three brothers. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Irma J. Malone Kolwicz of Mint Hill; son, Kenneth Kolwicz of Delanco, N.J.; daughters, Kathleen (Bill) Fischer of Marlton, N.J. and Kimberly (Todd) Anderson of Mint Hill; grandchildren, Kyle William (Alli) Kolwicz of Maryland, Karleigh Ann Kolwicz of Galloway, N.J., Ashley Marie (Cory) Crumbaugh of Mint Hill, Andrew Louis Anderson of Mint Hill, Alexandra Marie Anderson of Mint Hill; great-grandsons, Chase Alexander Anderson and Hunter Matthew Kolwicz. The family will gather to receive friends at St. John Neumann Catholic Church on Wednesday, Feb. 26 2014, beginning at 10 a.m. The funeral mass will begin at 11 a.m. with Fr. Pat Hoare officiating. Military honors will immediately follow the service. The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff of Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, especially those of the Levine-Dickson hospice house in Huntersville and Fr.
