Gary Eugene Capps CATAWBA Mr. Gary Eugene Capps, 70, of 200 Old Friendship Road, Catawba, passed away Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C. Born in Mount Vernon, Illinois, Mr. Capps was the son of the late Roy and Mary Mathus Capps. He was retired from Warco Construction Company in Charlotte. He formerly worked for International Harvester in East Moline, Illinois. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving in Germany and a member of the VFW Post 2889 in Rock Hill, S.C. Mr. Capps enjoyed fishing, camping, small engine repair, and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Capps was preceded in death by his brother, Redmond Capps. Services for Mr. Capps will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 7, 2014, at Neely's Creek ARP Church, 974 Neely's Creek Road, Rock Hill, SC with Rev. Heiko Burklin officiating. Burial will be private. Mr. Capps is survived by his wife, Linda Martin Capps; his son, Jerry Capps and his wife, Maria of Arizona; his daughters, Robin Capps of Mt. Vernon, Ill. and Tracey Smith and her husband, David of Indian Trail, N.C.; his brothers, Otis Capps and his wife, Donna of Geneseo, IL and Kenneth Capps and his wife, Colleen of Geneseo, Ill.; his sisters, Francis Rowles and her husband, Mark of Charleston, Ill. and Lila Watkins of Holts Summit, Mo.; his sister-in-law, Mary Capps of Matthews, N.C.; his seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and special friends Charlie English and sister-in-law, Gennie Smith of Rock Hill. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732 and other times at the home.
